Kate Henderson was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1996 after graduating with an LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1994. Until 2000 she worked as an associate in the Intellectual Property department at Gowling, Lafleur, Henderson, where she gained experience in complex intellectual property licensing arrangements and the prosecution of trademark registrations.
In 2000 Kate left Gowlings to attend the Ontario College of Art & Design and to open her own practice, focusing on entertainment, advertising, media and trademark law.
Kate brings a wealth of experience to her clients, along with a fundamental understanding of the creative industries in Canada and world-wide. She provides expert advice to musicians, artists, designers, recording industry companies, filmmakers and film production companies, advertising agencies and a broad range of small businesses.
Kate’s experience in trademark matters of all kinds allows her to be very helpful to clients who may be selecting their first signature brand, and it also allows her to manage large international portfolios of marks.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys yoga, making art, writing literary fiction, reading, and snowboarding and camping with her family.
